My first 3 days at Amara Hotel banquet department have definately been a blast with lots of happenings which are definately crazy but still it happened..

Day1
i was so damn scared coz of the negatives that i've heard about banquet and those stuff about bullying and doing a lot of hard labour work.. and of cos, i was scared that my uniform couldnt fit, coz the previous one couldnt, and that i gotta wear my own.. BUT.. luckily, none of it happened on the first day.. i went there, looking very very nervous, not knowing any staffs or anything.. and they, asked me to work at the Poolside on e first day.. there's this buffet lunch going on, and then the Mooncake Festival Celebration within the hotel, so i was back to what i did in the coffeehouse, clearing plates, pouring water, which was easy.. basically it went on until around 5pm, then we had our break till around 6pm.. when we went up after that, we basically just had to settle down and turn the ballroom for the next day's seminar in e morning, and did the breakfast settings, then i'll be able to leave already... but after that, i received a tragic news... i had to come at 6am in e morning, and that was definately crazy...

Day2
here i was, 530am, at e security checkpoint, looking all stoned and tired.. but at least, with the thought of going back at 2pm, eases everything in my mind..so we continued the breakfast settings, and the time really pass very very fast.. the next time i looked at my watch was around 9am and that was when all the guests already went in the ballroom and we could start to relax a little... it was until 11am when all the guests came out and we knew we had things to do again.. that is to turn e ballroom for a wedding the next day, so we rolled out tables, carried stacks of chairs and folded napkins for the occasion and we were basically done by 1.30pm and by then, my manager released me early, so i got 30mins off earlier. then another timing problem arises, i was supposed to work from 12-8pm the next day, but my manager asked me to come from 5pm-1am.... then i saw e event sheet that e wedding was from 230-5pm, so when i come, i wouldnt have much to do.... SO WRONG!!!

Day3
i happily walked in, thinking that i just need to clear up everything after the wedding lunch is over, but when i walked into the ballroom, most of it had been cleared and my colleagues are setting some stuffs that looked like for the chinese wedding occasion, so i went over and asked one of my colleague, after he told me what was he doing, i swear i wanted to go to the toilet to cry.. there is a wedding dinner later at 8, and we have to get ready by 645pm.. no choice, i had to live with it, although i have no experience in banquet before, i knew i had to learn..so i helped them to set everything nicely and when it was around 630, everything was almost done.. so we had a little break, and our manager then briefed us on what we had to do, and who our partners were.. i was partnered with a girl with much much more experience than me, and she taught me what i had to do and how to use the god damn service gears, all i had to do was just to serve, clear plates and carry the oval tray, which is quite easy to me coz i carried it b4.. and we were in charge of 3 tables... then came the most disgraceful part, i actually spilled a glass of beer and a glass of red wine on a guest's pants.. and when i turned and saw my partner staring at me, i feel so disgraced and i immediately apologised to e guest and also to her...
Now came the good news, when i was about to carry 2 plates of cold dish, my partner rushed in to stop me, she only asked me to carry 1, because one of the tables guests went to join another table, so we only have 2 tables to serve.. and that was wonderful because we have less pressure..
so we continued everything smoothly and finally it ended around 11pm.. but i still have to stay on, what we have to do next, was super tiring..

The whole ballroom was in a mess after e wedding, so only 7 of us left, we had to clear everything and turn it into a church setting which i have totally no clue what it was, until my captain taught me..basically we just have to clear everything left after the wedding.. rolled all the tables back to the store, and push in around 300+ chairs and 12 stages.. with 7 ppl, it looked very difficult, but actually we worked kinda fast and finished everything at around 2pm..

After 3 days at banquet, it doesnt seem that difficult from what i have thought initially, it is actually a very fun place to work, just that it is kinda tiring and alot of carrying to do.. i certainly look forward to next week, and i hope that what i have encountered these 3 days is one of the worst, so that my days at banquet would be more happy..
